A PERSONAL STORY

Over 60 years ago, on a Sunday evening, I sat on the floor with others in the chaplain’s study of the boarding school I attended, listening to a visiting English speaker (Montague Goodman) explain, in simple terms a seventeen-year-old could understand, how I could invite Jesus into my life as my Lord and Saviour. At that time I doubt I could have quoted one verse from the Bible. However, what he said must have made sense as I responded in faith as he led us in a prayer of commitment. What I experienced that night was so real that I knew I was loved by the Creator of the universe and had been adopted into his family.

Many things have happened in the last 60 years. Seeking to be faithful to Christ’s call upon one’s life is seldom easy. Yet, knowing that one is deeply loved by the greatest lover in the universe, despite one’s faults and failings; knowing that in all the joys and sorrows and challenges that life throws at you, you are never alone; having a great purpose that overarches all more trivial purposes that we tend to focus on; having someone to thank for so many blessings in life; and knowing that there is a certain future ahead in God’s forever family, makes the journey abundantly worth while.

One purpose, since retirement nineteen years ago, has been to create a website that provides clear teaching on all the major doctrines of the Christian faith, that may be read by any who possess a computer, even if they have no contact with another Christian. I have sought, in the twenty booklets and five books that you may read on this site, to be comprehensive enough for those who wish go deeper in their study, yet simple and clear enough for those who don’t read much or have English as a second language. I have also sought to be respectful of other beliefs. The printed titles vary from twenty to two hundred and sixty-six pages (the book on the Cross—the heart of the Christian faith).

I have concluded each title with a short statement on how you may enter into a relationship with this amazing God if you are motivated to do so.
